[Newzfirst] Thousands gathered at India Gate, demand release of Kazmi

In yet another show of solidarity, thousands gathered at India Gate on Monday evening, seeking justice for journalist Mohmmed Kazmi. Around two thousand people gathered this evening for the candle light vigil called by the family members of Mr. Kazmi. Protesters holding placards, candle and shouting slogans demanded immediate release of Mr. Kazmi. They also demanded the disbanding of Delhi Police Cell, citing violation of fundamental rights and charges of fabricating evidences by its senior officer. MANGALORE – Arrest of a student pursuing Post Graduation from Mangalore University on the charges of Naxal link, has created a row between civil society and administration in Dakshina Kannada district.

Vittala, a student of Mass Communication and Journalism, along with his father Linganna (53) was arrested on Friday 2nd March, from his house located in Kutlur village of Beltangadi Taluk amidst the dense Western Ghats, while another son of Linganna, Purushottam is absconding. [Newzfirst] Anti-POSCO activist shot and arrested in Odisha (Umakant Biswal)

DHINKIA – Umakant Biswal a young anti POSCO activist and a farmer from Dhinkia was shot and arrested yesterday when he was working on the farm near the village. Police came on motor cycle in civil dress to arrest him, after recognizing them Umakant tried to run away but was shot in leg and later arrested.

According to the villagers he was tortured in custody after being arrested as well. He was taken to Police Station in Paradip.
